CSI:  Fantastic Caverns 2011Neanderthal Field Trips - Fantastic Caverns - Springfield, Missouri USA

CAVE SCIENCE INVESTIGATORS!  An exciting program awaits visiting students at Fantastic Caverns in 2011CSI: Fantastic Caverns takes full advantage of our Underground Classroom with a very special investigation designed to enhance understanding of man's effect on the cave world.  Visiting student groups will learn about some very discreet ways we can harm a cave system without even knowing it ... skin oils, lint, hairs and even pollution making its way into the groundwater system.

Students will come upon a cave crime scene.  Vandals have struck and in their wake, left behind evidence that the kids will process to narrow down the suspects.  For this investigative process, they will need to rely on classroom skills (math/language arts) to analyze and evaluate the evidence, formulate a theory and draw their conclusions.

The vandalized cave formations, scattered evidence, evidence markers, crime-scene tape and investigators will give this very special program an authentic feel.  Plus, it all take place in the cave's Underground Classroom where it's always a warm 60 degrees regardless of the weather outside.  CSI: Fantastic Caverns includes the all-riding tour of the caverns.

CSI: Fantastic Caverns is a special, 90-minute, "touchable" educational experience designed for students in grades 1-8.  Students are encouraged to wear "after school" clothes.  All activities take place inside the caverns where it's always a Warm 60°. This 90-minute program is available at 10:00 am & 12:00 noon DAILY from January 1 through March 31.

SUMMER DISCOVERY 2010

Exciting Summer Program for 2010....

The 2010 SUMMER DISCOVERY PROGRAM is designed with children's groups, scouting groups and summer school in mind.  Participating students will ply their skills on a simulated archeology dig, carefully cleaning away debris and soil in search of historic remains in a Native American fire-pit,  finding and identifying artifacts from before and after the introduction of settlers and explorers.  They will then try their hand at games played by Native American children for fun and to learn life-skills needed to survive in their culture.  Visiting classes will even have a chance to try some early hunting methods!  This unique, specialty program takes place at the Outdoor Classroom located near the cavern entrance.  The 90-minute program includes the all-riding tour through the caverns.

SUMMER DISCOVERY is available from June 1 through November 24, 2010.
